Where’s the time gone?

What’s your schedule like?

Are you a morning person, or a night person? Do you just write when the precious seconds come? Or do you plan it all out?

I find myself always questioning my writing process, more so because of how business life has become for myself and my family. My kids are growing like crazy – our oldest is starting pre-school in four months. Our youngest just turned two and is out to conquer the world and it right behind in his brother’s foot tracks. My wife recently got a part-time job and is loving it. There I am in the middle of it all, trying to figure out time and schedules. I remember the good ‘ol days of innocence where I’d wake up whenever and do whatever. Time was nothing.

Funny how six months can change that.

Time is everything right now. Every second is precious and I try to track them all down… sometimes too much. Sometimes I try to micro manage my time I end up killing it.

We have several calendars in our house, but none we really use. It’s funny but the calendars are comforting to me, always able to see time and see where we’ve been and what’s coming up. I can’t explain why I’m obsessed with time all of a sudden, but I am. I think about it, I use it, and I even waste it. The bottom line though is that work is being done. We are moving at a pace I never thought possible and for that, I am thankful. I guess it really comes down to what works for you. Some people can organize and manage right down to the second, whereas other people will just have a mess of time, scrambling and jumbling together, but yet, when the smoke clears and their in bed for a few minutes before falling asleep, they realize just how much they’ve gotten done.

This is me.

When I go to sleep at night, I remind myself of what I’ve gotten done that day. It helps to know that in the wild game of life, we are accomplishing something. I may not solve the world’s problems but I hope to at least entertain people for a little while. If that’s what I end up doing… then hey, my job is done here.

So again, I’ll ask… what’s your schedule like?
