Challenge: To write in the western genre.
Word Count: 2500 words
Judges: Icy Sedgwick & Jodi Cleghorn
I’m a little confused as the last post said it was 2500 words and this one says 3500. I hope it’s the latter because I ran out of editing time to get it down. I really enjoyed this one.
My apologies for the typo – it is 2500 – as per last week and the schedule.
If ever in doubt – please check the schedule as it has the correct information.
Again – I apologise.
I can’t see your story in the widget also Caroline?
Blast I guess that counts me out. I can’t see the widget anymore.
This is the link to my western but it’s over the word count. I ran out of time to edit down then didn’t worry when I saw the typo. Oh well my own bad for not checking the schedule. Long week. Too tired to fix.
Carolyn – yours didn’t link up on Mr Linky. I have just posted it up for you.. hope it works ( hope mine shows up too!!) best of luck
Thank you thank you judges!!! I am SO happy..Congrats Kate, Annie and Carolyn – for the Magical Realism challenge. Unfortunately I wasn’t ready with my western on time – although I had fun seeing old westerns like Copper Sky, Oregon Trail, Walk Like a Dragon etc on Netflix and I am about 60 % there with my story – thank you for starting me on the Western genre and good luck to everyone that got theirs in.
This was great fun! I’ve written “weird” westerns before, but never a straight-up one. It was challenging coming up with something besides the bog-standard cowboy story. It helps that I was born and raised in Wyoming…
I’ve submitted my story for this a few times – but I think my internet connection is flaky ( am not at my normal connection spot) – apologies if it appears more than once. its http://annieevett.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/cyotta-falls-fgc-2012-13.html
Yay!!! all fixed. relieved sigh. I would have been so upset to miss this one. I love this genre.
I really wanted to submit this week but life decided to punch me in the face. I look forward to reading everyone’s stories.
Kate, what part of Wyoming? I grew up over South Pass, and now live in Casper.
I grew up in Saratoga and now live in Cheyenne. We must do lunch!
