Yet another challenge for me as I don’t write poetry. But it was kind of fun to play with another format.
This was very HARD. But it wouldn’t be a challenge if their were no challenges. Was fun to pull out the dictionary. Spend so much time googling things these days it was nice to do it the “old fashioned” way. To quote my brothers girlfriend “What’s that? Is that a dictionary?”
I look forward to next weeks challenge and will definately give myself more time to work on it.
I love OULIPO! It’s really just a very formal version of mad libs and is SUCH fun!
Oh fluff!! Sorry – number 6 AND 7 are me…. maybe I AM overworked and abused…. Please delete number 6.. sorry again.
It was a great tool to explore how succinct you can get your words…I’ve enjoyed everyones so far – congrats to all…
Since I’m helping judge this contest, obviously this poem is out of the competition. But I thought I’d leave one anyway. It’s a fibonacci.
After last week, I just had to do it for the poem “Of Nicolette,” which has now become “Of Nicoline.” Pretty cool!
Congrats to last week’s winners!
Late, but just made it in time!
Congrats to week #2′s winners and most honorable mentions. I DID participate in this week’s challenge but do to some thorny copyright issues I am not officially entering via the widget above. Don’t want anyone to get sued.
If you want to read my OULIPO, a rendering of A Tribe Called Quest’s “Excursions” into Triceps Called Quiche’s “Execration” you can follow this link:

In with 18 minutes to spare. Not quite out doing Rebecca D from last week, getting in with 7 minutes to spare.
Dictionary.com is my new bestest friend – having sat with sheets of paper and a black marker, trying to get a snowball poem.
And for a bit of a giggle, I’ve included beneath my snowball – a N+7 mashup of Stairway to Heaven! Looking forward to reading and judging something totally left of centre for me this week.
I just want to say to Annie, Dalena and Storm Dweller that while I’ve visited your posts and enjoyed them immensly, I’ve been once again unable to comment on them using my WordPress ID (big bum poop) – so apologies and well done to all contributors this week!
What a laugh!
Darn it! I want a refund on my snowball method… and the hour and a half spent rendering ten words which half made sense.
The snowball example I found had ever increasing numbers of letters in a word, within a sentence.
I loved reading all the snowball poems and alternated between moments of profound insight and impromptu hysterics reading the N+… constructions.
It’s REALLY hard this week not to be able to leave a comment until judging is done. Glad to see our first foray into poetry has been met with such vigor and passion.
